Description

The state of Tamil Nadu is known for being India's top producer of agricultural products. Rice, jowar, ragi, bajra, maize, and pulses are the most common crops grown in this region. Cash crops include bananas and mangoes, while oilseed crops include groundnuts, sesame, and sunflower. Irrigation is mostly provided by river tanks and wells.

Visual description: An Indian farmer dressed in white thrashes grain by hand in a field. A woman stands on his right, holding a sheaf of wheat and looks out at the viewer. A second farmer holds a bowl above his head, pouring grain onto the ground. In the background, there are mounds of grain lining the field. Underneath the painting, a handwritten label states: “puller casts thrashing paddies in the fields.”
