The common green birdwing butterfly is named after its vivid green wings. It is found on many islands in the southwestern Pacific Ocean, including New Guinea and the Solomon Islands. It can also be found in northeast Australia.

The hindwings are more rounded, with a combination of black borders and vivid green in the centre. The body is yellow.
