About 4.5 billion years ago
Rock (meteorite, common chondrite)
Description
The meteorite is the oldest object in RAMM’s collection: it is around 4.5 billion years old.
How the meteorite came to RAMM is something of a mystery. It was found in the geology collection in the 1990s. Testing in London proved that it was a meteorite, but where it was discovered and by whom is unknown.
Visual description: A palm-sized meteorite, which resembles a dark rock with smooth edges. It measures 12 centimetres by 12 centimetres.
